At around 21:40 on 23 July 1979, a driver and her passengers spotted a bright orange cylindrical object roughly two metres long over Saint-Lys. It moved rapidly from south-east to north-west at about 200 metres altitude and appeared to spin on its axis before vanishing over the horizon. Despite the clear description, no other witnesses came forward and no further data were obtained, making any conclusive analysis impossible.
