Trapezoidal object with lights over Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon

Summary

In July 1979, two witnesses on Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon saw a dark trapezoidal object with four front lights and one red rear light. It hovered motionless over the Anse du Savoyard, then moved slowly eastward before suddenly accelerating, climbing vertically and vanishing without a sound. No aerial activity was permitted on the island after 20:00, ruling out conventional traffic.
