At sunset on 11 August 1979, several witnesses in Mirebeau saw three reddish-orange rings appear on the horizon below a cloud layer. The rings transformed into a horizontal line that quickly vanished northward. No other testimonies were reported in the area. Investigators suggest it may have been an optical phenomenon caused by sunlight reflecting off a low cloud layer — an uncommon but natural explanation that does not require invoking unidentified objects.
