Red ball of light over the forest of Lyons-la-Forêt

Summary

On 19 September 1979, two joggers saw a red ball of light, bright as a star, hurtling toward them at high speed without producing any noise, air current or heat. It curved and stopped roughly 200 metres ahead, over the edge of the forest, for 3 to 4 seconds. Inside the light they made out a dark mass before the phenomenon vanished abruptly. No further testimonies or additional evidence emerged, and the case remains unexplained.
