In November 1979, an Air Force officer in France observed an unusual aerial phenomenon while driving through the Vosges region. Around 5:42 PM, he and his passenger saw two red-orange light points that stabilized about 100 meters above the woods. The lights turned off one after the other without making any noise. Thirty seconds later, a double "bang" almost simultaneously occurred, which the witness attributed to a sonic boom from a high-altitude patrol. A minute later, two more lights appeared at the same altitude but further north, only to disappear within five seconds. Although several local witnesses reported the event, the gendarmerie collected no further information, and the case remains unexplained.
