On December 15, 1979, around 2 a.m., a witness in Nantes observed from the third floor of their apartment a bright orange object in the sky. The object was described as a vertical cigar shape, moving silently from north to south. It disappeared into the urban landscape without making a sound. Despite the detailed account, no other witnesses were found, and the phenomenon remains unexplained.
The GEIPAN classification labeled it as "D," meaning it has no official explanation. This case is an example of how unidentified aerial phenomena can appear in urban settings without leaving a trace or additional testimonies. Its silent and luminous nature makes it an intriguing entry in the file of unexplained aerial events.
