In January 1980, a customs officer in France observed an unusual aerial object. On the 13th, at 7:10 AM, while driving through the Gironde region, he spotted a saucer-shaped craft with blinking lights at its ends. The object was about 5 to 6 meters in diameter and was slowly moving away at an estimated speed of 30 to 40 km/h. Most surprisingly, during the five minutes of observation, the witness heard no noise coming from the craft. Upon arriving at his destination in Haute-Garonde, he made a detailed report. There were no other witnesses or additional information, leaving the case unexplained.
The case was classified by the GEIPAN as "D", indicating no conventional explanation was found. Despite the clear and detailed observation, there were no confirmations or further evidence. Cases like Étaulières remain unsolved in the French UFO database, highlighting the value of such testimonies for researchers of unidentified aerial phenomena.
