In January 1980, in Martinique and Guadeloupe, several witnesses observed luminous phenomena in the sky. The objects, leaving multicolored trails, appeared between 6 and 7 PM over two consecutive days. Although the sky was clear, witnesses only saw them for a few seconds before they quickly disappeared. According to the various descriptions, the most plausible hypothesis points to atmospheric reentries, although other explanations were not ruled out.
The testimonies collected by the GEIPAN indicate that the objects did not appear to follow a random path, but rather moved in a clear direction. Despite the brevity of the observation, witnesses managed to describe shapes and colors that did not match conventional objects. This series of sightings, classified as case B, did not have a definitive resolution, but was considered worthy of study due to its coherence and the number of witnesses involved.
