Summary

In March 1980, residents of Saint-Porchaire in France observed unusual luminous phenomena. On the 3rd, a woman and her daughter were surprised by a red ball moving silently across the horizon. Police officers also saw it and noted its slow disappearance. The next day, other witnesses reported a luminous object with blue flashes. Interestingly, Venus was very visible near the horizon at that time of year, suggesting the observation might have been a misidentification of the planet. On the 7th, another event occurred: a multicolored ball and a flash on the ground caused an electrical disruption. Although there was no noise or electric sensation, several people noticed a voltage drop. One witness even mentioned an electric arc between a power line and the ground, pointing to a natural phenomenon, possibly a lightning strike or atmospheric discharge.
