Summary

On July 24, 1980, at around 4:30 AM, two witnesses in Issoire, France, observed a very bright white ball in the sky. The object emitted intense light that illuminated the countryside and caused discomfort to the witnesses' eyes. The ball ascended sharply towards the north after making a right-angle maneuver, then stopped and remained visible for an hour. The witnesses attempted to photograph it, but the film was declared "burned" by the photographer, who refused to develop it. One of the witnesses later reported seeing the same bright white ball again that same day. No other witnesses in the area came forward, and no additional information was collected.

The GEIPAN classified the case as "C," indicating no clear explanation was found. The lack of photographic evidence and additional testimonies hindered further analysis. Despite the prolonged observation and detailed description of the object's maneuver, the case remains unresolved. This incident exemplifies how the absence of concrete data can limit the investigation of unidentified aerial phenomena, even when witnesses provide consistent accounts.
