🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
On the early morning of August 14, 1980, witnesses in BUCHY (76) observed a yellow, flickering light near the horizon. The object moved very slowly and remained visible for several minutes before gradually disappearing. During the gendarmerie investigation, more witnesses were found, suggesting the observation might have been of the planet Mercury, which was particularly visible at that time of year. Although an astronomical explanation was considered, the GEIPAN classified the case as "B," indicating that an unusual explanation was not entirely ruled out.
