A rather unusual UFO event occurred in Saint-Étienne-de-Cuines on August 24, 1980. At 3:30 AM, a witness observed a very bright object in the sky. Despite the intense light, they managed to see a light pink parachute detaching from the bottom of the object. The parachute was visible for only a few seconds, but the glowing sphere remained in the sky for more than 10 minutes before disappearing.
When the witness woke up several hours later, everything had vanished. No additional testimonies or evidence were collected about this phenomenon. Due to the lack of information, the case was classified as "C" by the GEIPAN, indicating no conclusive explanation could be reached. Although the report is brief, the detail of the pink parachute adds an unusual element that keeps this case intriguing.
