In August 1980, two witnesses in Saint-Martin-de-Crau observed an object in the sky described as a "salad bowl" made of "polished aluminum". The object displayed unusual movement: its upper part appeared to oscillate while the lower part remained still. Without making noise or leaving smoke, it moved slowly northward, crossing a main road. Despite the detailed description, the gendarmerie found no physical evidence, as the object never landed. Researchers considered the possibility of a Mylar balloon, but could not confirm this hypothesis due to the lack of concrete data. The case was classified as "C" due to insufficient reliable information for a definitive conclusion.
