🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
In August 1980, a witness in France described a huge rectangular object in the sky, colored grey-gold with black and triangular lights. The case, initially classified as unexplained, was reviewed by the GEIPAN. Although the witness and his 6-year-old daughter gave the same description, there were no other witnesses or photographic evidence. The object seemed to follow the car, but its large angular size and lack of other testimonies raised doubts. The GEIPAN concluded that, despite the detailed description, there was not enough reliable information to consider it unexplained.
The GEIPAN re-examined this 1980 case where a witness saw a large rectangular object. Although the testimony and the passenger's drawing are interesting, there were no other reports or technical data. The lack of information about the object's altitude, angular size, and visibility in the sky limited the classification. The GEIPAN, with its current methodology, requires more consistency to consider a case unexplained. Therefore, this case was classified as C due to lack of reliable information.
