🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
In 1980, a witness in France observed a very bright luminous point in the sky. The phenomenon was seen from the fourth floor of their home, and the witness described it as a stationary star that appeared in the east. The observation occurred twice, on August 23 and 25, and lasted around two hours on the second day. Despite the duration and detailed description, there were no other witnesses. The GEPAN (now GEIPAN) initially considered that it could be Venus, a plausible explanation given the planet's magnitude at that time. Although the witness was never questioned in terms of honesty, it was concluded that the observation was a misidentification of Venus. The current classification of the case is "A," indicating a clear and non-UFO explanation.
