In October 1980, a French teenager reported to the gendarmerie having seen a glowing ball near her home. The description included shapes of "flying saucers" or "large cigars," with colorful lights that moved and took off. Her sister and parents also observed lights, though with conflicting details. The witnesses agreed on the object's direction toward "Las Roches," but not on its appearance or the duration of the observation. The gendarmerie found no physical traces or other reports in the area. Although the children described an unusual phenomenon, the adults failed to see the full object, raising doubts about the consistency of the accounts.
GEIPAN reviewed the case decades later and concluded that while there are strange elements, the inconsistencies between testimonies are significant. The parents did not mention seeing what their children described, and there is no way to reconcile the differences in what was observed. Additionally, one parent did not hear the takeoff noise, further complicating the narrative. Despite the presence of unusual lights and sounds, the lack of physical evidence and the contradictions in the accounts led GEIPAN to reclassify the case as "C," meaning insufficient information for a conclusive evaluation.
