In October 1980, several witnesses in Saint-Symphorién d'Ozon (France) observed an unusual aerial phenomenon. At 23:15, two powerful headlights appeared at an altitude of about 200 meters. When they turned left, the witnesses saw a dark object described as shaped like a St. Jacques shell, with two fixed red lights on the sides. The object emitted a deep sound. Although not identified with certainty, researchers suggest it could be an unidentified airship, such as a dirigible balloon.
The case was classified as "B" by the GEIPAN, indicating sufficient elements to consider a non-conventional explanation. Despite the lack of images or recordings, the detailed and coherent description by the witnesses, along with the object's shape and behavior, keeps this case among the most intriguing in the French database.
