🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
In January 1981, a witness in Reims, France, reported a round, luminous object in the sky. The case was classified as "A" by the GEIPAN, indicating a low strangeness observation. The witness, returning from work on a moped, saw a bright orange object that changed position and disappeared suddenly. Although the testimony was deemed sincere and credible, there were no other witnesses or additional evidence. Investigators concluded the observed object was likely the Moon at its rise, and the testimony was attributed to a misinterpretation due to factors like fatigue, night driving, and adverse weather conditions.
