Summary

On April 7, 1981, witnesses in Seine-Maritime observed a fireball at about 4000 meters altitude. The sphere was followed by a colorful trail and appeared to be falling in the area. No other testimonies were collected. According to their descriptions, it is likely they witnessed an atmospheric reentry, possibly of a meteorite or a satellite burning up as it reentered the atmosphere. Although the case was not classified as an unexplained phenomenon, the visual description is clear and consistent.
