🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
On the night of August 11, 1981, a farmer in northern France observed flashing red and white lights in the sky. Initially stationary, the lights slowly moved from north to south. The witness, frightened, returned home and continued to see the lights. The gendarmerie found no other witnesses or physical evidence. Although the testimony was collected several days later and is the only one, the farmer's credibility was never questioned. The description is vague, but some details match the Moon, though not mentioned by the witness.
The lights could also be linked to atmospheric or storm-related phenomena. The witness's fatigue after a long day and his panic may have distorted his perception or memory. Due to the lack of concrete data and verification, the case was classified as PAN C by the GEIPAN. While natural explanations are not ruled out, the lack of precision prevents a definitive conclusion.
