In September 1981, three witnesses on the Franco-Spanish border observed a red, luminous object moving in a north-south direction during the nights of September 19, and October 3 and 27. The sightings occurred between 11:00 PM and 3:00 AM, suggesting a recurring phenomenon. Gendarmes conducted a thorough investigation, ruling out known aircraft or celestial bodies, but failed to identify the object. This case, classified as "D" by the GEIPAN, remains unsolved.
The similar features of the three observations—time, direction, and color—raise suspicions of a common phenomenon. Despite the rigorous investigation, no clear explanation was found, adding credibility to the mysterious nature of the event. Cases where multiple witnesses report the same thing on different dates are rare and draw the attention of UFO researchers.
