🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
In October 1981, a couple in Essonne (France) observed red lights that appeared to be approaching them during the early morning hours. The witnesses, startled by the flashes and lights, left the scene without hearing any noise. The gendarmerie was notified days later but found no traces of the phenomenon. Only one testimony was recorded, limiting the possibility of a more thorough investigation. The case was initially classified as D but was later re-examined and changed to C due to a lack of conclusive information.
The GEIPAN, the French organization responsible for studying unexplained phenomena, concluded that the case could not be resolved with the available data. Although possible explanations, such as agricultural vehicles or motorcycles, were analyzed, none seemed plausible given the time and context. Additionally, the lack of multiple testimonies and the absence of physical traces made it difficult to reach any conclusion. The case was finally classified as "inexplicable" due to insufficient information to determine its nature.
