🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
On the early morning of October 9, 1981, a witness in the Var described a large cylindrical object. From his garden, about 100 meters away, he estimated it to be 1.50 meters in diameter and 30 meters in height. The object, visible for six minutes, appeared orange in the center and faded to yellow and white at the edges. Despite the detailed description, no other witnesses or physical evidence were found at the location. The lack of additional data left the phenomenon unexplained.
The case was classified as uninvestigated by the GEIPAN due to the absence of supporting information. The witness's account, although detailed, could not confirm the object's nature. Such sightings without corroboration are common in UFO databases. The rural setting and early hour made collective observation or recording of other clues unlikely.
