On the night of November 22, 1981, two French gendarmes on duty noticed an extremely bright light in the sky. The light was stationary and appeared to flicker, drawing their attention. When observed through binoculars, they saw colorful flashes around the light, which turned on and off in a chaotic manner. Using a star map, the officers located the light to the left of the constellation Orion. The observation lasted several hours, indicating the light was not a fleeting phenomenon. Later, after checking with an astronomy software, it was concluded that they were likely seeing Sirius, a very visible star during that time of year.
