Summary

On November 21, 1981, around 8:00 PM, two people observed an unusual luminous phenomenon in a forest near their home. The object had a rectangular shape, emitted an orange-red color, and remained motionless. During nearly an hour of observation, the witnesses noticed a green halo forming around the rectangle, followed by two powerful spotlights emitting yellow light. The object slowly ascended at a 45-degree angle before disappearing into the sky, without making any noise. The next day, one of the witnesses returned to the location but found no trace of the phenomenon. The gendarmes were notified 25 days later, but no physical evidence or additional witnesses emerged.

The case was classified as "C" by GEIPAN, indicating no conventional explanation was found. Despite the long observation time and detailed descriptions, there were no physical traces or further confirmations. Cases like this, where witnesses are consistent but no material evidence is found, are common in the study of unexplained aerial phenomena. The Bourgoine-Jallieu case remains an unresolved mystery, added to the file of unidentified flying objects.
