On April 21, 1982, around 11 PM, several observers in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques region noticed a particularly bright object. When viewed through binoculars, it appeared triangular and emitted intense light. The object was at a high altitude, moving in zigzags and occasionally hovering, without leaving any visible trail. Some observers followed the phenomenon for over four hours until the object disappeared. Despite the duration and clarity of the observations, no additional information was gathered that could provide a conventional explanation for the event.
