In August 1982, a witness in Mont-Saint-Aignan observed a gray oval object moving silently 20 meters above the ground. The sun reflected off its metallic surface and revealed a red figure resembling an eye. After turning around to see another person who was also watching, the object had disappeared. The witness filed a report with the gendarmerie but could not accurately estimate distances. Investigators concluded it was likely a Mylar balloon, common at the time, with decorative designs that could explain the object's appearance. The lack of other witnesses and the nature of the event support this explanation.
