Summary

On January 23, 1983, several witnesses in Bourgoine Jallieu observed a gray-black phenomenon in the sky at an estimated altitude of 2500 meters. The object had an elongated or "V" shape, did not emit light, and moved horizontally without noise. Despite using binoculars, the object could not be clearly identified. One witness, a former air navigator, compared its shape to the wake of a Boeing 747. The estimated speed of 500 to 600 km/h and the "V" shape suggest it could have been an aircraft seen from behind during descent. Although not confirmed, it is likely the witnesses misidentified an aircraft.
