In 1983, two witnesses observed a luminous object above a mountainous area. The object, the size of a tennis ball, displayed a white halo and descended in three stages, changing color. One witness, using binoculars, described a sphere with bright veins. In 2013, the GEIPAN re-examined the case using new tools and experience. They concluded the object was not an unknown phenomenon, but the star Venus. The confusion stemmed from a miscommunication about Venus's astronomical position at the time. The witnesses are credible, but they were victims of altered perception. The case was reclassified as a normal astronomical observation.
