On the night of May 5, 1983, a driver in the Landes region of France observed a blue, oval-shaped light measuring between 4 and 5 meters in length. The light moved quickly without noise or trail, causing confusion and fear in the witness. While driving, he noticed the light approaching, moving in circles, and then rising northward toward Pau. The driver stopped his car, alarmed, and experienced radio interference and a loud crackling sound. Although another truck driver may have witnessed the event, only one testimony was recorded. The night was clear, with a clear sky and a heavy atmosphere with a slight south wind. Initially classified as case D (unexplained), it was reanalyzed and concluded that it was likely a ball of fire. The sound heard by the witness is characteristic of this phenomenon, and although the dimensions seem exaggerated, fireballs of up to 15 meters in diameter have already been observed. Ultimately, the case was classified as B, meaning probably explained.
