Summary

On August 31, 1984, two witnesses in Coulaines (Sarthe) observed a bright white light stationary below the moon. Over the next ten minutes, the light stretched into the shape of a rugby ball and then positioned itself above the moon. There, it split into two distinct white lights connected by a compact mass. No noise or smoke was reported. The phenomenon disappeared suddenly, leaving no trace. Despite the clear description, no further information was gathered about this event.

The detailed account from the witnesses suggests an unusual object with peculiar characteristics. The shape and evolution of the object, along with the absence of sound or trail, raise unanswered questions. This case, classified as C by the GEIPAN, remains a mystery without a conventional explanation.
