In September 1984, three young witnesses observed a reddish luminous phenomenon in the sky over Oise, France. The object, seen from multiple locations for about half an hour, caused fear and confusion. Although it made no noise, it seemed to follow their car, increasing the witnesses' anxiety. One of them had already had a similar experience with her mother. Their descriptions match those of the Moon in a gibbous phase, though the witnesses didn't identify it as such. The precise location and the round shape with a "crescent" missing support this interpretation.
The GEIPAN reviewed the case with new methods and concluded it was the Moon. Despite no clouds to explain the confusion, the young and emotionally impacted witnesses didn't recognize the celestial body. The experience was intense, with crying, fear, and rushed decisions like turning back. This case, classified as A, shows how natural phenomena can generate UFO perceptions in stressful or inexperienced contexts.
