In October 1984, two drivers near Le Luc (France) observed an intense light near a railway. The light appeared as a white ball with a sharp-edged white beam. With car windows closed, no sound was heard. The investigation revealed it was a 600-watt spotlight from a Puma helicopter approaching a nearby military base for landing. Although initially puzzling, the source was clearly identified. This case is an example of how what seems like a UFO phenomenon can have a conventional explanation.
