In June 1986, a hardened circle of earth appeared in a chicken coop in France. The circle measured 1.10 meters in diameter, with a 0.40-meter surrounding ring where the soil did not absorb water and vegetation was nearly absent. Witnesses reported tingling sensations when approaching the circle. Two other individuals also reported seeing a column of intense white light around the same time. Although the phenomenon resembled so-called "fairy circles," likely caused by mycelium preventing plant growth, this explanation did not account for the tingling sensations, which could not be confirmed by other means.
The investigation concluded without a clear explanation. While conventional causes such as fungi or natural phenomena were ruled out, the symptoms described by witnesses remained unexplained. The case was classified as "C" by the GEIPAN, indicating that an unexplained phenomenon could not be ruled out, but no conclusive evidence of an extraterrestrial origin was found.
