Blue Ball in Sisteron 1988

On October 20, 1988, two witnesses in Sisteron (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence) observed a bright blue ball passing rapidly through the sky along a vertical trajectory. The luminous object left a trail composed of yellow and orange sparks. The phenomenon lasted only 2 to 3 seconds and was completely silent. Although it might initially appear as an unidentified object, the detailed description from the witnesses led investigators to favor the hypothesis of an atmospheric entry.
