On March 12, 1989, a woman in Aveyron observed a flaming object heading toward the ground, leaving a trail that changed color from yellow to red before disappearing. At the same time, she heard a loud noise she attributed to the impact. The gendarmes checked the indicated location but found no traces of the object. Although a meteorite re-entry was considered, the case remains unexplained.
