Unidentified lights over Neuvelle-les-Lure

Summary

On May 30, 1989, three forest guards in Neuvelle-les-Lure witnessed an unusual aerial phenomenon. At 11:15 PM, they observed three very bright lights emitting rapid flashes. After about twenty seconds of stillness, the lights ascended vertically at high speed, zigzagging through the air. Moments later, the object returned to its starting point, stopped, and a red light appeared before it vanished again, changing direction multiple times.

A Jaguar fighter jet passed shortly after, but the witnesses confirmed it was not similar to the observed phenomenon, which was completely silent. Investigations at the nearby air base failed to confirm the testimony. Despite all efforts, the object could not be identified, making it an unresolved case for the GEIPAN.
