In July 1989, two witnesses observed an unidentified aerial phenomenon over Opale Lake in Estaing, in the Pyrenees. The object, described as a PAN (Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon), moved slowly across the water, rocks, and snow for about 25 minutes without making any noise. The witnesses described it as an elongated object with a reddish glow and white lights, adding an enigmatic touch to the scene. Despite the long observation and detailed description, no physical traces of the object were found the next day. The case was reviewed by the GEIPAN, which concluded it was likely a red Mylar balloon, although there was no direct confirmation with the witnesses.
