In January 1990, a dozen children at a school in Cantal observed a black oval or cylindrical object described as having "legs" and "ports". The object passed silently about 150 meters above the school. Teachers, alerted by the children, saw nothing. A month later, a weather balloon launched from Bordeaux was found in a nearby town. Reconstructing the debris identified the object as this balloon. The "legs" mentioned by the children turned out to be the lower part of the balloon's radar reflector.
