🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
In September 1990, a couple and their children observed an ovoid white object in the overcast sky above the forêt de Moosch. The object performed rotational and back-and-forth movements before disappearing. The initial investigation had little experience with such cases, but modern tools and accumulated data led the GEIPAN to re-examine the event. Additional witnesses reported similar phenomena on the following days. Although no public event was recorded that day, the data align with a light projected from the ground onto the cloud ceiling. The shape, movement, and light description match artificial sources. Therefore, the case was reclassified as B.
Classification B indicates the phenomenon can be explained by artificial lights such as lasers or skytracers. Despite the lack of images or angular measurements, the consistency of testimonies and updated review are key. The GEIPAN concludes there is no evidence of an unexplained phenomenon, though the case remains interesting due to its short duration and multiple witnesses.
