🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
A couple and a gendarme observed a bright light in Saint-Lary on August 6, 1991. The phenomenon was first seen around midnight and lasted over an hour, with the officer observing it carefully using binoculars. Witnesses described a bright yellowish light that appeared unusual. Despite the strange appearance, the GEIPAN concluded it was the star Capella. The astronomical explanation matched all reported details. There were no doubts about the witnesses' honesty, but the mystery was resolved by linking the observation to a known celestial object.
