🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
In August 1991, five children aged 7 to 10 observed a luminous object in the night sky above Gilette, in the Alpes-Maritimes. The object was described as an ovoid blue mass with holes emitting faint blue light, which shifted to orange and displayed a pendulum-like motion. According to a report from a ufologist to the gendarmerie, the object blinked every five seconds and produced blue flashes. Although the children confirmed their account, there were no formal interviews or direct testimonies recorded. The case was deemed unusual but, due to the indirect nature of the report, the GEIPAN classified it as C: unexploitable testimony.
The case stands out for the unusual description of the object, but also for the limitations in data collection. Today, the GEIPAN disregards indirect testimonies as insufficient or unreliable. Despite the intriguing nature of the sighting, the lack of technical data or additional confirmations prevents a more conclusive evaluation. This case is part of a recent review of older files, aiming to improve the accuracy of classifications.
