In March 1993, a witness in Neyrolles (France) observed a luminous phenomenon crossing the sky for about twenty seconds. The object, which left a trail and moved slowly at low altitude, was seen against a mountainous landscape. Although a newspaper article mentioned several sightings, only this witness formally reported the event. Despite the witness's credibility being unquestioned, no other witnesses could be found. The description of the phenomenon was detailed, but the case was considered low in consistency due to having only one witness.
GEIPAN investigators concluded that the observed phenomenon matched an artificial atmospheric reentry, such as a spacecraft or rocket. This case fits within a series of sightings following the reentry of the Cyclone-M rocket on March 31, 1993. Although the witness misinterpreted the phenomenon, their visual perception was not in doubt. The case was classified as PAN A, linked to the mentioned artificial reentry.
