🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
In May 1993, three people in a car observed a blueish luminous phenomenon moving in an unusual way. The sole witness described a form without consistency, appearing in front of the vehicle at headlight height, moving continuously from side to side. Although the witnesses did not stop, they observed it for several kilometers. In 2018, the GEIPAN reevaluated the case with new tools and experience, concluding it was likely a disco laser reflected in clouds. The description matched other known GEIPAN cases, such as elongated shape, blue light, and repetitive movement. Although the exact equipment was not located, the similarity with other similar cases in the region supports this explanation.
The reevaluation highlighted that in 1993, disco lasers already existed, though were rare. A similar case in the same area in December 1993 confirmed that a device called "Sky Rose" produced identical visual effects. Additionally, atmospheric factors can cause the same equipment to create different effects depending on distance and location. Although the equipment could not be confirmed in this case, the matching characteristics suggest a high probability of a laser. The case was reclassified as "A," indicating a very likely explanation.
