In May 1994, four witnesses in La Haye Pesnel observed an oval object in the sky. They followed it, took photos, and filmed its movement. Later, in a nearby field, pieces of balloons with promotional material from a balloon launch contest were found. This event, aimed at children, had started in England. Although initially considered an unexplained phenomenon, the evidence points to the object being one of these balloons.
The case was classified as "B" by the GEIPAN, indicating a plausible explanation. The coincidence between the observed object and the found debris makes this balloon the most likely candidate. Despite the novelty of the case, the investigation concluded there were no unexplained elements.
