On February 4, 1997, around 6:20 PM, a dozen witnesses across different areas of south-west France observed a luminous ball moving rapidly along a descending trajectory with a noticeable trail for a few seconds. Some witnesses reported the ball exploding into several fragments. Although considered an atmospheric phenomenon, likely the entry of a meteorite, the event sparked curiosity and discussion among observers. The detailed description and the coincidence of multiple witnesses add interest to this case classified as "B" by the GEIPAN.
