🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
On March 11, 1997, at around 9:30 PM, two gendarmes in Maine-et-Loire observed a glowing object falling from the sky. The event lasted only five seconds and was silent. Although striking, the witnesses described it as likely a meteor or atmospheric reentry. Such events, while unusual, are not uncommon and are often hard to classify without further data. The short duration and visual nature of the sighting led the GEIPAN to classify it as a level B case.
