Luminous phenomenon in Firminy 1997

Summary

On the night of August 29 to 30, 1997, several witnesses in Firminy (France) were alerted by the unusual behavior of animals on a farm. Upon approaching, they observed a white, rounded light with an outer ring and small bright circles inside. The light projected beams toward the ground and moved by spinning on itself. At 2 a.m., when the witnesses returned to sleep, the phenomenon was still present. Although no conclusive evidence was found, it is suggested that this could be the reflection on clouds of a public advertising laser operating within a radius of 8 to 10 kilometers.
