On the night of August 7 to 8, 1999, an amateur astronomer in Dinan observed an unusual phenomenon while watching the Andromeda galaxy. The object, brown in color and silent, moved at a constant speed along a north-south trajectory. Suddenly, it sharply changed direction to northeast before returning north. The witness described a barrel-like shape, drawn by himself. The observation lasted about one minute. After a thorough investigation with nearby airfields and civil and military authorities, no explanation was found. It did not match any flight or radar trace.
