On February 7, 2002, several independent witnesses in Aveyron observed a rapidly falling orange fireball with a visible trail. The phenomenon lasted only 1 to 2 seconds before disappearing quickly from the sky. Other witnesses in a neighboring department also reported seeing the same event. Researchers from the GEIPAN considered it likely to be an atmospheric entry, such as a meteorite or space debris. Despite the fleeting nature of the event, the coincidence of multiple witnesses in different locations strengthened the credibility of the sighting.
